It's time again to gear up, get out and enjoy the great outdoors and the beautiful scenery and weather in wild, wonderful West Virginia!
A couple of new things this year... in addition to our current fleet of Honda Rincons, I am testing the UTV waters with a new Polaris RZR4 Robby Gordon Edition side by side. If you have anyone in your group who is an ATV skeptic or feels uneasy about driving their own machine, they are welcome to ride along with me or your guide during the tour. The side by side seats four people (the driver and three passengers).
We're working more closely with a couple of rafting companies this year to offer the full package for your vacation. Lots of groups last year chose to hit the white water rapids on Saturday and ride ATVs on Sunday, or vice versa. Let us know if you'd like a combo package and we can set it up for you.
Also, I want to welcome Travis Jackson to the team at WV ATV Tours as our Head Guide. Travis is a native West Virginian from Petersburg, and a member of the Big Kidz Racing team, which recently placed 3rd in the Parker 250 desert race in Arizona. Travis has been involved in racing and off-road development for years, including directing Field Operations at Burning Rock Off-Road Park. He's about the most experienced guide you could hope for on the trail, and we're honored to have him leading the pack.
The crew and I have been busy traveling and shooting "On The Trail,"--we ventured to Indianapolis in February to attend the Powersports Dealer Expo, where we met up with Tim Coombs and Carrie Coombs-Russel of Racer Productions and Racer X Illustrated. Special thanks to Carrie for taking the time to speak with us! March took us farther south to Daytona's Bike Week, where we experienced some great people and wild motorcycles, hit the races at Daytona International Speedway, and got the opportunity to interview Ricky Carmichael for the show. Most recently we were invited to Caliente, NV, by the guys at Motorcycle USA for the Nevada 200 ride. We had an awesome time and got to hang out with Motorcycle Hall of Famer Scot Harden, and Casey Folks, the director of the Best In The Desert Race Association.
As we take a temporary break from filming, I look forward to coming back home for ATV season. I'm excited about the new Polaris, our new partnership with the rafting industry--let us know if we can help you with information, accomodations, or advice on planning your vacation--and the awesome spring and summer weather in this heavenly state.
If you haven't experienced off-roading in southern West Virginia, you really should come and visit us. If you have never ridden an ATV, don't be afraid--it's really very easy with these automatic quads. Just get some friends together and we'll take care of the rest.
See you on the trail!
